OEF HIKES
Sometimes weather or personal circumstances play havoc with our planned events as they are planned months or weeks in advance. Please be aware events might change at a moment's notice. You should always check with the Event Planner / Contact Person to verify your attendance and any last minute changes as to time and meeting place, etc.
We try to car pool wherever possible so please be prepared to share gas expenses if you are sharing a ride.
Always remember to bring plenty of water and a lunch or something to eat such as an energy bar or fruit.
In Summer: Insect Spray, Sun Screen & Hat are advisable.
In Fall: Dress a bit warmer and in layers, Toque, Hat, Gloves/Mittens are advisable.
In Winter: Weather can turn very cold fast so bring extra warm clothing, Toque, Gloves, Mitts, Scarf, Winter Boots, Socks. Depending on conditions Icers, Snowshoes, or skis may be required.
Extras can be a Camera, Cell, Compass, Small Flashlight, Walking Pole(s), Sun Glasses, Jacket, Hat, Toque, Gloves/ Mittens, Fire Starter, Compass, Knife, First Aid Kit.
Good footwear and socks are just good sense.
A NOTE TO NEW MEMBERS: Some of our activities can be difficult and somewhat dangerous. Whenever possible activities have been rated as either “easy”, “intermediate” or “strenuous” so you can judge for yourselves, in which ones you are likely to feel comfortable participating. Not every activity is for everyone. If you are on a hike and don’t feel you can continue, please inform someone in the hiking party and they will go back with you. For all events, NO ONE WILL BE LEFT ALONE.
